Hi Marina,


Good questions.


You would need to interview a few midwives to get a feel for them.

Also not all midwives are comfortable with VBAC's. You want to find the one that will support your wishes.

Ask for a list of midwives or else go to my site http://www.birthing.co.za for a list of midwives in private practice that work from Linkwood and Genesis.

How's the ttc going?

Are you preggies yet?


My take on your question about midwife vs doctors on vbac's is that midwives trust the process more. They see all the things that are right whilst the doctors are trained on what can go wrong so they are always on the look out.

It's a matter of training basically.

welcome Marina,


I am also looking at having a midwife at Genesis.

As far as I know there are many midwives that support a vbac.

Also at Genesis.

You would need to interview a few and get a feel for who suits you and then she will tell you which doctor to go to.

There are some really experienced midwives who have done hundreds of vbac's. That makes me feel so much better.

From my research it seems that midwives are more experienced in vbac's than dr's. I wonder why that is?unsure

having always been in the care of a doctor, i'm a bit unsure on how to proceed with my VBAC… will any midwife be prepared to support me in this process, or will I have to phone around and find someone?

i know i want to go to the Genesis Birthing Centre (so at least that has been decided!)
