Hi Clarisse,
Glad you got to go see Genesis. Awesome huh?
As a general rule second and subsequent labours can go faster, even for vbacs, provided they experienced labour in previous pregnancies.
The issues here go a lot deeper than just physical.
There is the emotional realm that also affects the labouring process and for mom's attempting a vbac this can have many layers as you can well imagine.
There are beliefs that become questioned or insecurities that suddenly pop up demanding attention when one might not want to acknowledge them for fear of
repeating or creating those fears.
Another important aspect is to see how your own mother laboured with you and other children.
There is a school of thought that acknowledges that fears and worries create comlications in labour and birth therefore the more the mother works through her
fears before the birth the better it is.
For researched information on this you can visit http://www.wombecology.com
Sometimes with a vbac it can tak a little longer as the body warms up slowly to the contractions so as to avoid a problem but going to fast.
Fundamentally it is always a good idea to trust your body so whatever it is doing you follow it's lead and listen in to your gut intuition. If you're worried
you speak up and have yourself checked, if you're secure you're fine then communicate that too. Your body still knows exactly what to do.
Love and support
Lia
