This forum post manually restored

Hi Wondering one,

There are women all over the world that do have succesful vbamc.
Reality is that we are at risk with whatever we decide to do. Some risks are heavier to acknowledge than others.
Sounds like your doctor is not pro-vbac so he will outline all the negative heavily. You would get a more balanced view from someone who is pro-vbac and

knows the riskd involved just as well as your doctor but won't use fear and intimidation to sway your decision.
Whatever your decision is, you should be give accurate information so that you can make an informed decision. That would mean that you are taking

responsibility for your choices based on good information.

I wish you luck and would love to hear more of your journey in discovering this.

Love and curiosity
Lia
xxx

Wondering one!

I see you're in CT. The great doctors Lin was mentioning above are in JHB.

You'll need to query your local midwives or doulas as they would definitely have some more info for you.

It's appalling how some doc's can lie to people.

I'm cross that this was said to you knowing the higher risks they put women in for repeat caesareans.

Get the info you need.

The links here can help you to begin and then use them for your husband and eventual doctor.

Read some positive vbamc stories to encourage yourself that it is indeed possible.

Wish you all the luck in

It can definitely be done without your life being at risk. However, you will need a pro-VBAC gynae. Not just a gynae who claims to support you, but one who believes a VBAC is safer than a natural birth. If you're in Johannesburg I'd recommend either Dr Mia or Dr Jivkov – I haven't met Dr Jivkov but he's highly recommended by my midwife. Dr Mia is supporting me through this pregnancy and VBAC attempt, he's great.

I would also recommend using a midwife and doula, their support can be invaluable.

Are you pregnant at the moment? How far along are you? If you're pregnant you need to do this asap! Good luck!

Hi there

I have had three c-sections since after the first when my baby was breach, the doctors told me I could no longer try to give birth naturally.

I have recently read a newspaper article in a local newspaper that a doctor in my area, delivered a baby naturally after the patient had, had 3 previous c-sections.

I mentioned this to my husband and he said that if I tried to give birth naturally - I would pop open - and that he would not want to risk the life of his wife.

I've always dreamed of giving natural birth but to win his approval - AND THAT OF MY DOCTOR WHO SAYS NO - is going to be a real challenge ...

Can it be done without my life being at risk ?
